It was a totally OFF day!

I don't get a whole lotta "OFF" days of work. Part of it is working for a family business, my parents' to be specific. And part of it is having the luxury of a very flexible work schedule (thanks again, MOM!) which means that I can come in late, leave early and work oddball hours if necessary. So I end up working just about every day, at least in part, and then leaving when needed for teacher conferences, dentist appointments, field trips, quick runs to the mall and the occasional matinee (seriously, I love you, MOM!!)

Therefore, an actually day of no work whatsoever is usually only on holidays. Which are then filled to the brim with family get-togethers, activities, much driving and rarely a moment to actually relax. Or heaven forbid, get something done!

Well, today was my once in a blue moon.

I didn't step foot in work AND I didn't have a single family obligation! No presents, platters of food (beyond my own lunch!) or people!!!

Never have I looked forward to a day of laundry and bleach with the kind of anticipation like I did today! Woot Woot!!

The school age kids all went to school and Cali went off to meet a friend for... whatever. And, my friends, had the whole freakin' house TO MYSELF! I have bruises from the pinching. I couldn't believe it! I hardly knew what to do first: laundry, scrub the kitchen floor, maybe some sewing. I was overwhelmed with OPTIONS! A friend suggested nakkid dancing in the living room; but unharnessed swinging and flinging about was a recipe for disaster, self-inflicted injury and a trip to the ER for sure. Not the way I wanted to spend my first day of freedom!

I watched OPRAH! And Martha Stewart Living, though I'm not really sure why. Man, is she boring! Has Martha always been so gosh-darn boring??? I used to love her. In the 90's, I seriously aspired to be a sort of Martha wannabe... I was just lacking all the talent and style! What happened? All I aspired to do while watching her today was turn the channel!

There was laundry and a dental appointment (thankfully, not mine. So I got some reading in too!) Unfortunately, there was most of my wish list that didn't even get touched. Ah well, just have to try and squeeze that in some other time. In those odd hours between work and blogging, sleep and running.

What do you do on your day off?

0 Leavin' me some love!:
